An overseas Pakistani, Cambridge alumnus and a successful entrepreneur. Mr. Shafiq Akbar returned to Pakistan after living in the UK for 15 years. As an accomplished investment advisor and real estate developer, he not only created more than 450 jobs for the Pakistani youth, but also established a conglomerate of 7 companies.
Mr. Shaﬁq Akbar is the Chairman and Founding Chief Executive Officer of Graana and Imarat Group of companies. He brings considerable real estate development and international business experience to the group. He is also the Chairman of Agency 21 International.
Shafiq started his career with Hyundai Engineering & Constructions where he was appointed to several mega projects including Chashma Hydro-Power Project and Pirkoh Gas Compression Power Plant. While in the United Kingdom, he worked with one of the top realtors, Douglas Allen, and its parent company, Arun Estates. He then went on to explore entrepreneurial arenas and to set-up his brands Homzz Construction Ltd, Homzz Investments, Hotspots Rental Management and Steptons Estate Agents.
Shafiq holds a Masters of Philosophy degree in International Relations and Affairs from the University of Cambridge and Master of Science in Public Policy from Queen Mary, University of London.
Shafiq has established himself as a successful businessman and a thorough professional who is keen to revolutionize the image of real-estate in Pakistan. He is successfully running many initiatives such as Association of Overseas Pakistanis, Iqbal Institute of Policy Studies and Builders and Developers Association to reform the real estate development and the construction industry in Pakistan.
Shafiq is also a sports enthusiast who loves to play tennis, golf and soccer.
